Phizzwizard - Romantic New Age Music

In Roald Dahl's famous childrens' novel, the BFG, a Phizzwizard was a wonderful dream. The BFG (Big Friendly Giant) would go to Dream Country to collect dreams, and would store them in jars. Then, he would mix elements from the dreams using a gigantic egg beater, in just the right amounts, to make wonderful dreams to give to the children in the night.

I chose the name "Phizzwizard" to reflect my approach to making music - taking my own musical dreams and mixing them together to make something beautiful. Indeed, the BFG himself spoke of music,

"And sometimes human beans is very overcome when they is hearing wonderous music. They is getting shivers down their spindels... So the music is saying something to them. It is sending a message. I do not think the human beans is knowing what the message is, but they is loving it just the same."

I write the music of my own dreams for my enjoyment, which is moving to me. If others are moved emotionally too by hearing it, then something magical will have happened.

I have only just started recording my own compositions properly (I am working on an album called "Avon Valley Dreams"), and there are still many as yet unheard melodies floating around in my heart, waiting to be born and become sound.

Music is played in time, yet its mood is timeless.
Music is a language, yet its emotion transcends its composer's native tongue.
Music is neither art nor science, but both in perfect harmony.
Music is sound, yet its timbres can paint vivid pictures.
Music needs skill, yet is nothing without feeling.
Music feeds love, yet can come from love's yearning.
Music can be written in despair, yet can bring new hope.
Music comes from the spirit, and through it, the spirit inspires us.

The Ice Maiden

Beyond the shimmering ice sheets of the far North, the Ice Maiden sings her haunting melodies in the glistening moonlight. She dreams longingly of her lost love, and yearns for the day when he will hear her voice and return to fall in love with her again.

Improvised flute (the song of the Ice Maiden) over a wash of swooshy Roland Alpha Juno synth chords (the shimmering ice sheets of the far North).
